Teeth Whitening

Get a Whiter, Brighter Smile

At Main Street Dental, we are known for enhancing the appearance of our patient’s smiles. We are a cosmetic dentist that can help you achieve a whiter smile in just one visit. If you are interested in getting a whiter, brighter smile, we highly recommend professional teeth whitening because it is by far the easiest way to improve your smile.

Why Get Teeth Whitening?

We conduct professional whitening regularly so that people can look and feel their best. No matter how well you take care of your teeth—brushing, flossing, avoiding sugar, and visiting the dentist regularly—they will eventually lose their natural color and necessitate whitening treatment. As people age, it is usual for teeth to grow dull and yellow. This dulling is related to a combination of factors, including age and what a person eats and drinks. White enamel surfaces can become stained by coffee, tea, wine, smoke, and chocolate. However, we can remove years of dark stains on your teeth with whitening.

Which Teeth Whitening Treatment is Right For Me?

Patients who desire a brighter smile can choose from a variety of products and treatments, and with so many possibilities, it can be tough to choose the one that is ideal for you. Scheduling an appointment with Dr. Desai to discuss the distinctions between in-office professional whitening and at-home whitening is perfect for starting any teeth-whitening plan.

In-Office Whitening

In-office whitening is the primary and most prevalent professional alternative. Here at Main Street Dental, we offer in-house whitening treatment. Our professional tooth whitening solutions can dramatically improve the appearance of your teeth. The improvement is partly due to the potency of the solution we utilize. Professional whitening gel can whiten teeth by eight shades or more, whereas store-bought whitening solutions can only whiten teeth by two shades. In-office whitening is a significantly better alternative if you want rapid and dramatic results. During your appointment, we will use a whitening gel to apply to the surface of your teeth. The total office visit will take approximately 90 minutes, and you will be able to see the effects right away.

At-Home Whitening

Whitening Trays

Tray bleaching is a professional whitening that involves custom-made trays and whitening gel that can only be obtained through your dentist. The whitening gel is applied to your teeth using custom-made trays that fit snugly over your teeth. Hydroxyl Radicals help whiten discolored teeth as the peroxide in the gel breaks down. Unlike strips, this procedure whitens all of your natural teeth and may include substances designed to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Professional tray whitening at home usually takes ten to fourteen days, with noticeable results within three to five days.

Whitening Toothpaste

Whitening toothpaste and mouthwashes are the cheapest options. Toothpaste and mouthwashes with “whitening” properties remove surface stains with moderate abrasives. Unlike the ingredients used in professional whitening, these products do not lighten the tooth’s natural color shade. Whitening toothpaste removes surface stains and lightens your teeth slightly.

Whitening Strips

Teeth-whitening strips are thin, flexible plastic (polyethylene) strips coated on one side with a tiny layer of hydrogen peroxide. Strips for the upper teeth and strips for the lower teeth are included in whitening strip packages. The whitening agent is applied by gently pressing the strips across your teeth to ensure that all of your teeth are covered. Teeth-whitening strips are usually used twice a day for 30 minutes each time. The length of treatment will differ.

Paint-On Whitening

There are a variety of over-the-counter whitening solutions available, and one form of readily accessible whitening treatment is known as a “paint-on” teeth whitener. Paint-on whiteners are less expensive and less effective than whitening strips or professional solutions, and you can acquire them over the counter. Paint-on whiteners are a gel applied to the teeth using a small brush. The whitening gel is painted on and hardens into a film that coats the teeth before dissolving in the mouth. Before starting any teeth-whitening treatment, it’s a good idea to consult with Dr. Desai.
